Video Games And San Jose Children

Are Video Games this generations manipulators? A fellow blogger at MMO Gaming wrote about the drama that went down at a local EB Games. In short a six year old walked out of the store with a “M” rated game.
This is a sticky situation in video game sales. Is it the responsibility of the sales people to police what games get into the hands of children. Or do San Jose, C.A. parents need to wake up to the gore, violence and sexual content that can actually be wrapped into a box with a cartoon character?
I understand that the game was being sold to an adult legally but obviously the six year old would end up playing the game. So I ask you, if you work in a place that sales “M” rated games in San Jose, California, would you say something to the parent and refuse to sell it?
Ken from Gamestop states “As a responsible retailer, GameStop abides by the ratings established by the ESRB and will not sell a mature-rated title to anyone under the age
of 17.” An adult was purchasing the game but the game went back into the hands of a six year old child.
Parents, would you respect a business that would reinforce the game rating system? Or would you be angry at the fact that a cashier mentioned the rating of a game before you purchased it?
