Get Organized!

organize.jpgAmong all the other events that are going on in the month of October, this month is also Get Organized Month. I know that I need to do it, how about you?

Today I’d like to offer you some tips on getting organized in your home, office, and on your Blog.

Blogging
Organized Blogging is not an easy task and no one knows this better than Web Dev Notes. Deceth offers some interesting tips on organizing you blog and the time you take to blog.

There are also some other tips that I would like to offer. Invest in a paper organizer. These organizers come in handy for collecting notes, pictures, magazine clippings and newspaper articles for your blog.

I also like to create an organizer with my url favorites. When I see a url or picture that catches my interest. I’ll sort it into my special section and use it later.

Office
Office desks can be horrible at the end of the day. I’ve been guilty of having posties and pens all over the place. I have also been guilty of leaving projects all over my desk or stacked on my in box.

The thing that finally got my desk from looking like a war zone was finding a place for everything. At the end of the day, I got into the routine of putting everything where it belonged.

All files were labeled
Current projects had an individual file of their own
Pens were placed in their holders
Calendar had a pen attached to it by a string or cord

Home
The same concept at the office goes with my home. I know that it’s not easy but it can be done. MJ likes to drop things where he stands but I still have been able to keep an organized home. These are the steps that have helped me.

Everything has its location
Keep everything local
Return things to its location
Watch Supernanny

Keep everything local?
The routine that I’ve gotten into is placing things where they are going to be used. I try not to let things that I use in the bedroom and bathroom stay in the living room too long.

Watch Supernanny?
There are some great organizational skills that I have learned from watching Supernanny. Yes, most of the organizational items are for dealing with kids messes but once in a while I can find something that works for me.

Hey! Thanks for the link love! :)

I couldn’t agree more with you that a paper organizer is best! I love all my online tools and gadgets and I’ve tried to use anything and everything online to organize myself. It just never seems to work out. The paper organizer is the only way I can ever actually stay on top of things. Its easy to always have around when you need it and you have so much more freedom and control to scribble down whatever you need or want quickly.

I would however LOVE if I could click hyperlinks with my finger on my paper organizer and have them open on screen… thats the only thing missing :)

Oh and a pen that lets you copy/paste would be awesome too…!
