Party With The Bone

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

bone.jpgListeners of 107.7 The Bone are still trying to decide who is going to be the 2008 Bone Rock Girl. I don’t usually write about what radio stations in San Jose, California are doing unless it’s for a non-profit.

I had to make an exception because of location, location, location. I’ve had a lot of great memories at The Britannia Arms in downtown San Jose. This Saturday, 107.7 The Bone and the contestants for 2008 Bone Rock Girl will be there to meet with fans, friends, and family. So you’ll want to be at 173 W. Santa Clara St. at 5:00 p.m. to join all the fun and get a good seat.

When there isn’t something crazy going on The Brit offers customers great food and great drinks from behind the bar. The Brit has the largest Happy Hour menu I have ever seen. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day long. Plus the staff, management, and owners are really friendly and outgoing.

Don’t worry about dressing up when you come to The Brit. It’s a very casual atmosphere. Plus if your looking for something to do during the week. There seems to be something going on every day of the week. So definitely go on by and say “Hi” to everyone.

While you’re at the 107.7 The Bone site don’t forget to register as a Bonehead listener and put your name in the hat for a custom Gibson Guitar. Doesn’t hurt to try, it could put a ES-137 worth $2900 in your hand.

Merging and Moving @ TSO

Monday, January 21st, 2008

typing.jpgOn Janury 17, EA-Land opened with the swarm of hundreds of online sims. Electronic Arts is already merging and making changes. I’m sure that these won’t be the last.

I had the chance to spend fourteen days at The Sims Online and had some fun playing the game. I can’t compare it to There.com but unlike Secondlife.com there are actually things to do other than build and shop.

San Jose YouTube Advertisers

Monday, December 17th, 2007

CityDome.jpgSilicon Valley is Silicon Valley in all aspects. The residents and businesses of San Jose, California have warmed up to the concept of YouTube being the place to advertise your products, services, and business.

A person can fine snippets of a business on YouTube. This is the case of “El Gallo Giro” the person filming has decided that scanning the crowd waiting to be served and showing the overhead sign is advertisement enough.

You can see the video of the full service bakery and place for tasty Mexican food here.

The advertisement gets a little better with Happy Bamboo Vegetarian Café. This is the type of advertisement that would get me to try out a place. A viewer can see what is on the menu and people give their opinion of the place.

Will Blogging Bomb?

Friday, December 7th, 2007

There are hundreds of Blogs on the internet. Do they still have a future?

I hope you had fun watching the video. It really makes me think about blogging and life after the 2.0 bubble. If there really is one. Will the bubble actually burst? The writer of Always New Mistakes poses an interesting question. Will it be as bad as 1999?

An Entrepreneurial City?

Friday, November 30th, 2007

check.jpgThe thought is definitely interesting. This morning I woke up to an article in The New York Times about a man who has a different job every week.

Now Sean Aiken has the life and I could see myself doing that. At least some form of having several jobs during the year.

So why is Sean Aiken taking on 52 jobs? He was a little dismayed about his father not being passionate about the job he has been at for over thirty years. So Mr. Aiken set out to find the perfect job and to find himself.

I then I said to my self “What if all the people in San Jose, California were like Sean?” Instead of applying for jobs in Corporations and businesses people would advertise their skills and accomplishments.

Pagan Packs

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

techtuesday.jpg
A bag full of Bright Blessing, Mobile Magick, and Pagan packs from them to you. What could this all mean. It’s that time of week to tell you about a website or technological gizmo that I have found useful in my in San Jose, California.

This week I had an excellent way to advertise your Pagan or Wiccan product fall into my lap. Pagan Packs help Pagan businesses prosper by sending out packs of business cards and goodies. It’s actually quite cool.

For a couple of shipping dollars, I can get a stack of business cards, flyers, a cross-stitch pattern, carrot cake incense, Goddess Awakening soap, and Oatmeal Milk N Honey Bath Salt.

While looking through the products and fliers, I’m surprise that I didn’t find a Pagan business from San Jose. I know that you’re out there and I’m sure you want to advertise on more than Witch Vox.

In truth, Pagan Packs isn’t just about advertising a business. It’s about promoting a community of like-minded people. The website offers a forum area and chat room for users. Many write articles, teach, provide guidance and organize gatherings.

It’s also about promoting all the unique and artistic abilities that we are given. Such as
Aria Jewelry and Gifts. Jennifer has some great jewelry designs and even has 504 soothing bath recipes for sale. That’s something I’m going to get my hands on.

How about skin art? Stuck inside the bag is a business card for Ink Jammers. Kevin Gomes has produced amazing skin art.

Check back next week when I give my review of Mobile Magick. Till then I hope that you enjoy the rest of my rant and raves of San Jose, California.

2008 Bridal Extravaganza

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

wedding.jpgThe rain is here! At least the rain is here for today. I don’t like the rain. People don’t know how to drive in it, rain messes up the hair, and it can snafu an event in a jiffy.

Especially weddings! No Bride wants rain on her Wedding day. That’s why it’s best to prepare and what a great way to prepare than at The Bridal Extravaganza.

The Bridal Extravaganza will be in San Jose, California on January 20th, 2007 at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel. The Bridal Extravaganza has been voted “The Best Of” in the Bay Area and I can see why. Each year representatives of Bachelor Party products to Wedding Cakes are all in one place.

Are you the next President Cup Winner?

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

golf.jpgEvery golfer might be glued to NBC for Day Four of The President Cup in Montreal. I wonder how many of them have dreams of becoming Pro Golfers? If you dream of golfing at some of the most famous clubs in the world, It’s time to start practicing.

My Grandfather and Uncle were Golfers. I could never get into the sport. On a cool sunny day, many Golfers will be on one of their three favorite courses. The crowd has spoken and these are the top three favorites in The Bay Area.

Cinnabar Hills Golf Club
Cinnabar Hills has a history with San Jose and the Bay Area. This luscious green course has won various awards for the past six years. In 2007, San Jose voted it the Best Course in Wave Magazine and was voted Best Public Golf Course In Silicon Valley with the Silicon Valley Concierge Association.

Nestled off the 101 Freeway, the course green and trees are breath taking. I like Cinnabar Hills Golf Club for their amenities. This is a great place to visit even if you’re not a Golfer. Cinnabar offers a full service restaurant for breakfast, lunch and appetizers.

They also have a location for weddings and meetings. My Cousin has her wedding reception at a Golf course. The whole family had a wonderful time watching the sunset over the Los Angeles Mountain Range. I believe you could experience the same at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club.

Cinnabar Hills is located at 23600 McKean Rd., San Jose, CA 95141

San Jose Favorites: Chinese Food

Monday, September 24th, 2007

chinese.jpgIt seems that San Jose goes for originality over classic Chinese food. The top three are Chef Chu’s in Los Altos, Chef Mings in Palo Alto, and my personal favorite Wings in San Jose.

Chef Chu’s
Chef Chu has been serving great Chinese food to the Bay Area for many years. Chef Chu’s hand on approach has made the restaurant what it is today. Chef Chu’s is a place where friends and family can experience quick, healthy, simple and delicious food.

I agree with Rachel Ray! If you want to experience a restaurant and not the price, then try the place at lunchtime. Chef Chu has created a wonderful menu for either lunch or dinner.

My favorite is the Sichuan Beef. The beef is so tender that it almost melts in your mouth. The Sichuan Beef does pack a punch in spice. So unless spiciness is your thing, I would choose something else. Mike loves the Lemon Chicken. I swear the man will eat anything fried.

San Jose Safeway.com Doesn’t Deliver

Monday, September 24th, 2007

groceries.jpgAs a convenience to busy lives, Safeway offers the advantage of ordering groceries online and having them delivered between certain hours. You would think that this is an advantage but Safeway.com doesn’t deliver.

Website maneuverability
Safeway.com is actually really easy to use. A customer simply has to fill out a small form to access the website. Most products are categorized by type of food. Safeway.com also has a quick search engine. The search engine definitely comes in handy when a customer is looking for a name brand.

Speed
As a grocery store that has delivery service, a person would think that Safeway has quick service. I have found that it actually takes up more time than going to the actual store.
The actual shopping online takes about the same time it would take to shop inside of Safeway.

The time crunch comes during delivery. Safeway.com requires a window of either two hours or four hours. Don’t expect to get quick delivery in the evening time. Traffic is horrible between 4-6pm and it causes the delivery person to be late

San Jose Favorites: Best Bowling Alley

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

bowling.jpgI actually thought that Bowling was out of style. The days of rental shoes, clashing pins, and hand blowers had come a thing of the past. Bowling is actual an activity to do and people are doing it with style.

Bay area residents voted 300 to be the coolest play to knock the pins down. Cleverly named after a great game of Bowling, 300 claims to be strikingly different. If I were judging by décor, I would have to say that it is.

Extreme bowling fun features digital bowling lanes, full bar, pool tables, Sports Telecast, and a full grill. The grill has old time favorites with a modern twist. I had the “Team Extreme” with my fiancé Mike. The Team Extreme is a platter of Buffalo wings, Nachos, Mozzarella sticks, Garlic Fries, and Shanghai Egg Rollers.

Everything was great! Mike loved the Garlic Fries and went for the Egg Rollers. The Sweet Chili Garlic Sauce is an interesting mixture with the fried Egg Rollers.

300 San Jose is located at:
5420 Thornwood Dr. San Jose, CA 95123

San Jose Favorites: Attractions

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Every year the Wave magazine holds their anual Silicon Valley Readers’ Choice Awards. A time when San Jose residents can vote for their favorite place to grab a bite to the best place for a yearly check up.

The following are Winners, Honorable mentions, and suggestions for when you don’t agree with the crowds vote. I’ve included my favorites and I would love to hear yours!

Attractions
Winner: The Tech Museum of Innovation
The Tech Museum of Innovation offers attraction for the whole family. Many of the past exhibits have been on animation, robotics, and even the human body.

There are currently 240 different areas to explore, create and build in at The Tech Museum of Innovation. During my recent visit, Mike and I had a great time designing a hybrid car. Let’s just say that Mike is the mastermind when it comes to electric motors, tires, and efficiency.
