Christmas Celebrations, Rocking Concerts, And More

Wednesday, December 12th, 2007

joanjett.jpgI don’t care what some people say in San Francisco, California. San Jose, California is a city. Yes, you guessed it. I’m tired of people saying, “I don’t know where anything is around here, I’m from the city.” What the?

To prove that we are a city, here are some things going on at our convention center, theaters, HP Pavilion, art museum, and more.

Voices In Harmony
The California Theater will be host to Northern California’s Premiere Men’s A Cappella Chorus on Sunday December 16 2007. You can listen to a collection of their musical pursuits here.

CityDome.jpgWhat to do? What to do? What is there to do around San Jose during this crazy holiday season?

Christmas In The Park
If you haven’t done so already, head down to Cesar Chavez Park. Christmas in the park is still going strong. There are some great looking and decorated trees for different companies around San Jose, California.

Light Haiku
Located 1st and 2nd street, just south of San Fernando is the works of Artist Chris Eckert. Chris has mixed technology with ancient Japanese poetry to produce this enormous 650 square foot Haiku of lights.

The Light Haiku will be on display nightly until the end of January 2008.

Apoptosis
Is war and destruction artwork if it’s destruction of artwork? How do you feel about it?
Artist Taro Hatorri poses this question while re-creates various forms of devastation in his installation.

By using destroyed walls, wooden flooring, cracks, gaps, and slanted surfaces Taro Hattori creates artwork that speaks to our mind.

You can view the instillation for yourself at Space 47

Sharks On The Ice
It looks like a battle for dominancy on the ice. The San Jose Sharks will be going up against Buffalo, Minnesota, and Vancouver. It will be interesting to see if The Sharks will be able to beat out one of the Western Conference division leaders.

Git R Done
Just in time for the holiday season Larry tells us to “Eat, Drink, and Be Larry.” Larry The Cable guy will be in San Jose on December 14, 2007.

I for one will not be going. I don’t know if it’s because Larry jokes get on my nerves or because they remind me too much of myself. O.K. I’m just kidding. Some of his jokes are funny and some just make people in the U.S. look bad.

Do you wear a blue collar? Larry, Jeff and Bill have created a group site for everyone who loves comedy. You can git in on the action by posting your own videos. Are you the next Batman spoof?
