CityDome.jpgDroves Of Foreigners
With foreign currency lapping the U.S. Dollar many citizens of Canada, Asian, and European countries are buying homes for a great deal. It you don’t believe so check out this story at the San Francisco Chronicle.

The McCullough’s just closed escrow on a 1.3 Million dollar home for $711,000.
I have to say that I hate the fact that the value of the U.S. Dollar is steadily decreasing but thank God someone is buying the homes in The Bay Area and stimulating the economy.

How many people will come overseas to buy homes? Will the stimulation of the economy be any good? We’ll just have to wait and see.

More Rain
It’s yet another gloomy day in San Jose, California. CBS 5 reports that there is going to be more rain over San Jose and The Bay Area. Thankfully, it’s not supposed to be as bad as the one that was over the city Friday and Saturday.

While looking at the CBS Live Doppler it looks to be about a 25 – 35 percent chance of rain. I’d still have the umbrella handy just in case.

Strange and stupid people
A woman who wanted her lovers wife deceased advertised for a killer on Craigslist. CBS 5 reports that Mary Ann offered $5,000 and a work address to anyone that was willing to take the offer.

You can read the full report here.

I just don’t understand it? Did she not think that she was going to get caught? There are thousands of people that visit Craigslist every day. The are thousands of people looking for employment every day and some of them are very honest.

Let’s not forget the fact that police officers and civilians working with the police comb through Craigslist weekly and at times daily to seek out preditors.

Helping Out – Domestic Violence Awareness

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Purple_Ribbon.jpgYesterday I wrote about speaking for those who are unable to. As a victim of Domestic Violence, I have experience first hand what it feels like to feel trapped and hopeless.

There is the shame of hiding physical and emotional scars from the world around you. Many times I had felt that no one understood what I was going through ore even cared.
http://www.about-sanjoseca.com/speak-out-domestic-violence-awareness/

Thankfully there are organizations and people that do care and that are willing to help. These organizations are only a phone call away from helping the abused, batterers, and families of Domestic Violence.

Here are several organizations in Silicon Valley that are willing to help.

Battered Women 24 Hour Hotline
1-800-572-2782

This number will connect you to a counselor 24 hours a day. They also have a main office located at:

Speak Out Domestic Violence Awareness

Monday, October 1st, 2007

Purple_Ribbon.jpgPerhaps people do it because they don’t want to get involved in other people’s affairs. Perhaps people think that the violence will turn their direction. There is a reason Domestic Violence is a silent epidemic. People are afraid to speak out for themselves and for others.

People rush to the scene of an accident and call 911. Why can’t the same be done for a Domestic Violence victim? There are things that you can do to help.

Contact The Police
Your local Police Department will have information on Domestic Violence laws and procedures. The Police will also have information on how the victim can obtain a restraining order.

If you witness Domestic Violence, please call 911. You have the right to be anonymous but no one deserves to be beaten and battered.

Coming This Week: The War On Domestic Violence

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

rage.jpgDomestic Violence is a silent epidemic that affects all of us.

From child, to adult, to neighbor Domestic Violence has affected our lives in some form or fashion. It’s time to break the silence and do something about Domestic Violence.

In San Jose, one of four women has suffered an assault. Domestic Violence doesn’t stop with women. There are cases where women attack men; men attack men, and women attack women in homes.

For the next three days, twelve 451 Press Bloggers and I will discuss this deadly issue, to bring a voice where a voice is needed. It is my hope that you will take away something that will cause you to act.

In the next three days, I will talk about:
Speaking Out – How to speak out when the victim is unable.
Helping Out – Organizations that help victims, attackers, and their families in San Jose.
Crying Out – The effects of Domestic Violence on children and how they can speak out.

Domestic Violence Doesn’t Have To Happen

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

rage.jpgToday Life as a Christian woman is talking to Author Jocelyn Andersen about Domestic Violence in a Christian home and her book “Women Submit! Christians & Domestic Violence.”

I wanted to share with you because I think that Domestic Violence has touched our lives in some form or fashion. We have either had Domestic Violence effect us personally or known someone that it has affected. My heart goes out to you if you have known someone who has died from Domestic Violence in his or her home.

I personally have had Domestic Violence in my home. It’s not something that I talk about a lot because the actions that my boyfriend at the time took were not the classic and visual effects of Domestic Violence.

Isolation is a form of Domestic Violence. Encouragement to each food so that you will gain weight is a form of abuse and Domestic Violence. I was involved with a man that had my mind so messed up that I thought if I was a “Supersized BBW” he would love me more. I was kept from family and friends. I was put down for trying to obtain a college education.

Thankfully one of his friends noticed what was happened, took me aside and talked to me about it. You can help your friends and family too because Domestic Violence and Abuse comes in all forms.

Medline Plus has some great resources discovering the symptoms of Domestic Violence, coping, and preventing it.
