2008 Resolution: Healthy Weight Loss
If healthy eating and weight loss is one of your goals in 2008 there is no better time to start than today. Researchers say that a healthy eating will become a habit after 21 days. If you start today then you’ll be half way there.
Every New Years Eve, people make the resolution to lose weight. They then go headstrong into a low calorie eating plan and exercise program. I know, I’ve been one. The big change isn’t always needed.
In 2007, I set out small goals that I wanted to obtain and was successful. I plan to do the same in 2008. By cutting down on soda, subtracting 250 calories a day for my eating plan, and being active for 30 minutes a day, I was able to drop 50 pounds.
The first thing that I did was cut down my daily soda. I use to drink two cans of soda every day, sometimes more depending on how I felt that day. By not drinking the one can of soda, I was able to save enough calories to not add 12 pounds onto my body in 2007.
I also added 30 minutes of aerobic activity into my life. This could be walking, swimming, biking riding, in-line skating, skateboarding, volleyball, and many others. Just by adding 30 minutes, I was able to burn roughly 200 calories every day. Which helped me lose 24 of those 50 pounds loss.
Last but not least, I removed 250 calories from my eating plan. In theory it takes 3500 calories to lose one pound. If you subtract 500 calories from your meals each day of the week, you should be remove roughly 50 pounds from your body.
I’m looking forward to dropping another 50 pounds in 2008. Though secretively I hope to be like Bill on The Biggest Loser and get down to my goal weight in 2008.
Here are some key things to remember about weight loss:
Small Changes Over Time – Learn to make changes that you can live with
TODAAT – Take One Day At A Time
Plan Meals and Snacks – This kept me from snacking on stuff I didn’t want in my body.
You’re Not Perfect – If you missed your activity time or ate something extra, don’t beat yourself up. Just get on plan the very next hour.
Good luck in 2008! If you want any support you can always contact me through this blog. Next year I hope to present pictures of a woman who is 50+ pounds thinner.
